Bike Ride Up Towards The Cottonwood Pass Summit (Buena Vista Side - April 2006)
 |
Today I bicycled from the Buena Vista Traffic Light
and headed west on Chaffee County Road 306, which is known as Cottonwood Pass Road.
I really did not know how far up I would go, but before I knew it, I had
reached the San Isabel National Forest sign ... then the Cottonwood Hot Springs
... then the Spring Canyon turnoff. I eventually decided to reach the
Rainbow Lake Resort (adajcent photo) which has a beautiful lake surrounded
by cabins and a beautiful view of Mt. Yale. |

This is the view of the mountains looking south. Now I definitely
plan to bicycle to the summit of Cottonwood Pass when it is warmer and I'm in better shape. This was definitely a very good confidence boaster for me. It was a grueling 45 to 60 minutes of uphill, followed by a glorious 10 to 15 minutes of me flying at 30 to 35 mph the entire way back into Buena Vista! :) |

Near the resort, there was an open field of aspens.
Man oh man, I can't wait to come back during the autumn season! |

One shot of me! |
