The Colorado Trail At The Avalanche Trailhead (June 24, 2006)
June 24, 2006 - This morning I hiked on the Colorado Trail,
beginning at the Avalanche Trailhead near Buena Vista, Colorado.
It's fairly steep at the beginning of the trail,
but there are some beautiful views of the canyon including the Rainbow Lake Resort.
The trailhead is not called "Avalanche" on a whim.
As you can see, there are quite a few slides on this mountain. You can faintly see
Chaffee County Road 306 and the trailhead parking lot below.
Heading upward, I snapped a shot of Jones Mountain peaking its head.
Beautiful and tall pine trees in the area.
Now I took this trail up to the pass, approximately halfway
to North Cottonwood Creek. I snapped this shot of
Mt. Yale near the top.
