Pretty Snow On A Hilly But Sunny October Day In the Mountains
Photos October 15, 2011 - It was a cold but sunny day in central Colorado, and I
made the drive from Buena Vista, CO to Cottonwood Pass this morning.
I figured I was due for a visit and Robert Burke, my cycling friend
in Texas, had been "getting on my case" to snap some pictures. :)
This first picture is taken at the upper parking lot approximately one mile
west of the Denny Creek Trailhead on Chaffee County Road 306. Nice mountain view!
We've had a few moderate snowstorms so far since late September.
As you can see, some of the snow still remains on the Continental Divide.
Ahhhh, you've got to love the mountains. Ice Mountain (13,951 feet), one of the Three Apostles, is on the right.
Driving down from the pass on the east side of the divide. Some rusty and red colors remain on the hills.
Terrible lighting, but a shot of mountains. 13er Jones Mountain
is on the far right.
Last but not least, some fall foliage colors remain way down in the valley.
We're way past the peak season, but above is a pretty aspen grove.
