Mt. Yale Hike: Trip Report On May 19, 2006
Jason Friesema and myself hiked Mt. Yale
on Friday, May 19, 2006. There were some significant areas of snow below
timberline that required wearing gaitors. We began out hike at 5:30 a.m. at the Denny Creek Trailhead on an unusually warm day, and I snapped this shot somewhere below timberline obviously. |
Above timberline, there is a long, uphill stretch that leads to the saddle west of the summit. There are beautiful views of the surrounding Rocky Mountains to the south, west and north. |
At the Mt. Yale summit, I snapped this photo of the beautiful Cottonwood Pass region!
That's Cottonwood Pass Road inside the canyon. The mountains far out in the middle-right
are in the Crested Butte area. |
Jason very graciously allowed me to have a few minutes of the Mt. Yale summit to myself. We had a great hike! This is definitely a doable "14er" if you are seeking a Colorado adventure in the Cottonwood Pass area. |
